공항에 가고 싶어요.

공항에 가고 싶어요.
I want to go to the airport.
gonghange gago sipeoyo

Speech Level

The '-어요' ending indicates the standard polite speech level (해요체), making it appropriate for interactions with taxi drivers or station staff.

How it works

The structure is: Destination + Location Particle + Verb 'to go' + Verb 'to want'. The subject 'I' is naturally omitted.

  • 공항에: Noun 'airport' + location particle '에' marking the destination.
  • 가고 싶어요: Verb stem '가-' (to go) + connective ending '-고' + auxiliary verb '싶다' (to want) conjugated to the polite '-어요' form.

Sound Changes

Due to liaison, the final consonant 'ㅍ' in '싶어요' carries over to the following vowel, making it pronounced as [시퍼요]. Note that the 'ㅇ' (ng) batchim in '공항' does not carry over to the next syllable, so '공항에' is pronounced with the 'ng' sound staying in the coda.

Notes

A polite and direct phrase to tell a taxi driver your desired destination.
