When to use

Call the reception desk or speak to a staff member directly using this phrase if you discover your shower or sink is only running cold.

How it works

This uses the impersonal verb form 'hay' (there is/there are) made negative by placing 'no' directly before it.

• No hay: There is not
• agua: water
• caliente: hot

Watch out

The word 'agua' is a feminine noun. However, it takes the masculine article 'el' in the singular ('el agua') to avoid a clashing 'a' sound. Despite this, any gendered adjectives modifying it must remain feminine, such as 'agua fría' (cold water). The adjective 'caliente' ends in '-e' and is invariable, meaning it looks the same for both masculine and feminine nouns.
