How it works

The phrase combines a verb of desire with a verbal noun (masdar) and a prepositional phrase:

Verb + Masdar

Instead of using 'to' plus a conjugated verb, MSA often uses a verbal noun (masdar) after verbs of desire. Here, 'الذهاب' (going) acts as the direct object of 'أريد' (I want).

Article Assimilation

In 'الذهاب' (adh-dhahāb), the 'ذ' is a sun letter, so the 'ل' (l) of the definite article is skipped. In 'المطار' (al-maṭār), the 'م' is a moon letter, so the 'ل' is pronounced clearly.
